Nights Pundits' : Bersheba

There was a commemoration in Wellington today - and there'll be one in Israel tonight, to mark the centenary of the battle of Bersheba - or third battle of Gaza. In October 1917 - British, and Anzac troups broke through the Ottoman Defences around the southern boundary of Palestine, what is now Israel - a rare success in an otherwise bleak autumn for the allies.
