If you think you've been hearing more beautiful birdsong in the Capital you're ears aren't lying. Latest figures show native birds have increased by 51 per cent on Wellington's Miramar Peninsula. This includes a rise in the Piwakawaka population of a whopping 550 per cent ! And it's all thanks to Predator Free Wellington's efforts to eradicate predators in the area. Possums and one species of rat have already been eliminated, and there are plans to expand the movement as a part of the Predator Free 2050 goal. Project Director James Willcocks is up early to join us.
