FIFA has launched a formal investigation into allegations that two executive committee members had offered to sell votes in the contest to select the host city for the 2018 World Cup finals.

At the centre of the investigation are Nigeria's Amos Adamu, and the Oceania Confederation president Reynald Temarii who were exposed by undercover reporters from the London Sunday Times newspaper.

FIFA has also mentioned ongoing inquiries in relation to other FIFA officials who may have been involved in the issue in question.
