Britain's three-time Olympic cycling champion Bradley Wiggins has won the first stage of the Tour of Italy while his New Zealand team-mate, the sprinter Greg Henderson, finished fifth - only five seconds behind.
It was a good Grand Tour debut for Wiggins and Henderson's new Team Sky.
The other New Zealander in the field is Julian Dean (Garmin) who was 53
seconds down on the winner.
The American Brent Bookwalter was second and Australia's Cadel Evans finished third on the 8.4 kilometre time trial in Amsterdam.
