After 17 years and more than 700 appearances with his boyhood team, this weekend's match with Crystal Palace will mark the end of an era.

The 34 year old Gerrard says he's dreading the day when he says goodbye to Anfield and heads for the United States to join the Los Angeles Galaxy.

He says his best memory was in 2005 when he inspired a Liverpool fightback from 3-nil down at halftime to beat AC Milan on penalties in the Champons League final.

Gerrard hopes he can return to Anfield one day in a coaching role.

Liverpool have failed to win any silverware this season and will not finish in the top four places in England so as to qualify for next season's European Champions League.
