Gloom over onion exports

The outlook for the onion industry is a bit of a gloomy.

Country Life reports bulbs are a decent size but many are infected with neck rot and white rot diseases, which will pose problems during grading for export or in storage.

Onion exports to Europe may be light and unprofitable, because of the values of both currencies and exports to Japan are uncertain.
