Bars and liquor store caught selling to minor

Four bars and a liquor outlet in central Wellington have been caught selling alcohol to a minor.

Police visited 11 premises on Thursday night with an under-age volunteer trying to buy alcohol.

Four of the eight bars and one of the three liquor stores sold alcohol to the minor without asking for photo identification.

Sergeant John Lewis says action will be taken against those who did so.

After similar operations in the past, he says, some premises lost their liquor licences for between 24 and 72 hours.
