Ten people, including five children, remain in hospital after a three-car crash that sent a minivan plunging 20 metres down a bank last night.
Police said a vehicle heading north on State Highway 16 near Waimauku crossed the centre line just after 6pm and collided with the minivan.
An Auckland District Health Board spokesperson said five children were in a stable condition in Starship Hospital.
Four of the adults were also stable, while one was in a serious, but stable, condition.
The spokesperson said it was likely most of them would be discharged in the morning.
