The police dive squad has this morning found the body of a driver whose car crashed in to an irrigation canal yesterday.

The car went in to the water in the early hours of yesterday morning at Pudding Hill in Mid-Canterbury.
The body of a passenger was found yesterday inside the car but the driver was found outside the vehicle, about 500m downstream of the crash site.
Police say a formal identification process is now underway for both of them and inquiries in to what caused the incident are continuing.
