Some in Auckland's east Asian community are disturbed and hurt by a spate of racist attacks on election campaign billboards.
Outgoing mayor Phil Goff says while there's always been a degree of mindless vandalism around local body election time, the overwhelming targeting of Asian candidates this year is racist and unacceptable.
