The head of the Road to Zero programme says there has not been as much improvement to road safety infrastructure as he would like to have seen by now.
Bryan Sherritt from the Ministry of Transport, says more safety features, like median barriers and roundabouts, are needed to reduce the road toll.
He told Morning Report not enough had been done at this stage of Road to Zero strategy.
Sherritt says it's only two years into the ten-year programme and he's confident the pace will pick up.
