High dairy, meat consumption fuelling climate change - report

From Morning Report, 7:32 am on 9 August 2019

A new United Nations report says the West's high consumption of meat and dairy produce is fuelling climate change.

But scientists and officials stopped short of explicitly calling on everyone to become vegan or vegetarian.

The report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, says that if land is used more effectively, it can store more of the carbon emitted by humans.

Associate Professor Anita Wreford, from Lincoln University's Agribusiness & Economics Research Unit, was one of the report's authors. She talks to Susie Ferguson.
