NZ children of Asian parents risk losing heritage - report

Asia experts are warning that thousands of preschoolers growing up speaking Asian languages need more support to ensure their valuable skills are not lost. A new report from the Asia New Zealand Foundation says 18 percent of under-fives have at least one Asian parent and they are at risk of abandoning their heritage language as they get older. The foundation says Asia is too important for New Zealand's future to allow that to happen.
