Cabinet discusses charging returning NZers for isolation

From Midday Report, 12:13 pm on 29 June 2020

Cabinet is discussing whether to make people pay for at least part of the cost of their two week stay in managed isolation and quarantine.

The Government has spent about $80 million on border facilities so far, with a budget of a further $300 million to see out the rest of the year.

Officials are also considering keeping a tighter leash on returning New Zealanders, including taking away the option to exercise outside for the first three days of isolation.

Human Rights lawyer, Michael Bott, spoke to Māni Dunlop.
