Australia resumes deportation of convicted New Zealanders

After a temporary halt due to Covid-19, Australia will resume the deportation of New Zealanders this week - with a group of 30 arriving in to Auckland on a chartered flight.

They will carry out their 14 days isolation in a dedicated "inner city hotel" - but the Health Minister isn't giving any further details about their location - citing their privacy and concerns about vigilante activity.

But National says the government needs to be more transparent if it wants people to have confidence in the security measures it's putting in place.
