Sport: PNG's Garamuts coach says batsmen are overdue for runs

Papua New Guinea coach Rarua Dikana believes his batsmen are due for some big totals after a difficult start to the Under 19 Cricket World Cup.

The Garamuts top order has failed to fire in defeats against Scotland and Pakistan, with Kiplin Doriga the only player to reach 50 in totals of 108 and 138.

Rarua Dikana says a number of players have been getting starts but haven't gone on and are due for a big performance.

"Dogodo [Bau] I mean he's getting starts and needs to work hard to make it a big one. Hiri Hiri is the other one who is also working hard at the start and then pretty much getting out and Riley [Hekure} has been quiet so far. They have been made aware that the start is getting the hard work out of the way. They're capable of doing it so they are sort of our main batsmen and hopefully they tie in a higher partnership amongst them and we manage a bigger total."

It doesn't get any easier though with PNG's final group match against India on Wednesday evening.
