The Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development in Samoa says it will now consider incorporating new information in its youth education programmes to warn of the dangers of consuming methanol spirits.
Two men have died and three men were admitted to hospital last week after drinking methanol spirits.
The youth division's assistant director in the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, Sydney Faasau, says he'd like to see information about the dangers of drinking such spirits added to its current social development programmes.
"Regarding the issue on spirits, which recently affected some young people I think it's time that we should also consider this into the priorities for government. There has been trainings on substance abuse but it hasn't really been identified as a major issue until recently."
Mr Faasau says the ministry will be working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to get the necessary information out to communities.
