Police in New York on Friday closed part of Times Square as part of an investigation into a suspicious package.
Several blocks of Seventh Avenue were closed to traffic and pedestrians and the bomb squad was at the scene.

A man appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the incident, which involved a homemade bomb of gasoline, propane gas, fireworks and fertilizer.
