The damage caused by cyclone Tomas in Fiji is now estimated to have cost about $67 million Fiji dollars ($NZ49 million).

The Category 4 storm battered Vanua Levu and the Lau Group last month, claiming at least two lives.

National Disaster Management Office acting director Pajiliai Dobui says the agricultural sector is the worst affected, but infrastructure, health and other areas have also been damaged.

Mr Dobui says more data has been received from assessment teams over the past days and the final damage cost is expected on by Monday.
