The Independent Maori Statutory Board is confident that Auckland Council wants to get to the bottom of why it's under-spending on specific Maori initiatives.
The Council's Finance and Performance committee has passed resolutions to address issues around Council spending on Maori outcomes.
An independent report found the Council spent a quarter of its budget set aside for Maori- specific initiatives last year, and even less in the first half of this year.
Maori Board Chairman David Taipari said a number of the reports key recommendations will be worked on, from a top down approach.
He said it was about taking stock of what was happening in the Council that related to Maori outcomes, and having inclusion in the long-term plan to meet those Maori outcomes.
