NZ bids to host indigenous tourism conference

9:32 am on 28 January 2013

Aotearoa is bidding to be the host nation for the new global indigenous tourism summit.

The plan is being driven by New Zealand Maori Tourism which says its attempt will be hotly contested by other countries.

The first International Indigenous Tourism Conference was held in Darwin last year.

Maori Tourism executive Butch Bradley says it'll be an opportunity for first nation people to come and see how Maori tourism ventures operate.

Mr Bradley says they haven't yet settled on which city or town would host the conference.
