The Breakers continued to create New Zealand basketball history with their 76-59 ANBL victory over the Sydney Kings in Auckland on Friday night.
Playing for the first time at Vector Arena, the reigning champions thrilled the more than 6,500-strong crowd - the biggest to ever watch a basketball game in New Zealand - with a stunning performance, led by centre Gary Wilkinson and capped by some CJ Bruton magic.
Although the Breakers led all the way they at times struggled to nail shots from the field and Bruton says the home side had to adjust to playing on new hoops.
Bruton led the scorers with a game-high 21 points, and the Breakers now top the table with four wins from five games.
Also Friday night the Adelaide 36ers produced the upset of the ANBL season with a 100-92 road win over the Perth Wildcats and the Wollongong Hawks also won away, beating the Taipans 69-64 in Cairns.
