The New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell fears his year may be over after a shoulder injury forced him out of the Hong Kong Open.

Campbell pulled out shortly before the second round and is set for an MRI scan in Sydney to find out the extent of the damage.

He says his participation in next week's Australian Masters and the Australian Open in December may be in doubt.

Campbell was seen clutching his shoulder during Thursday's opening round, when he shot one-over-par 71 to lie seven shots off the lead.

He has been troubled by the injury since July's British Open.
