World champion rower Mahe Drysdale has revealed how potent the stomach bug he contracted was.
Drysdale was ill most of last week then bravely snared a bronze medal in the single sculls at the Beijing Olympics on Saturday night.
After the race he said he had three litres of intravenous fluids pumped into him two days before the final but it had litte effect by race day.
