The Belgian pair Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin have moved a step closer to a last 16 meeting at Wimbledon after making it through to the third round.
The US Open champion Clijsters eased past Karolina Sprem, 6-3 6-2 while Henin beat Germany's Kristina Barrois 6-3 7-5.
Both Belgians have highlighted their lack of a Wimbledon title as motivation to end their retirements last year.
Lleytton Hewitt and Andy Roddick are through to the men's third round.
Hewitt, who beat Roger Federer in a Wimbledon lead-up tournament, won his 100th match on grass when his Kazakh opponent Evgeny Korolove retired injured trailing two sets to love and love-3.
