Killen misses Slovenia friendly

A calf strain has kept striker Chris Killen out of the All Whites friendly against Slovenia in Maribor.

The Middlesbrough forward was due to slot straight back into the New Zealand starting XI for the match against world number 25 Slovenia, after missing last weekend's upset win over 15th-ranked Serbia to get married back in the United Kingdom.

However, he didn't see out New Zealand's final training run and instead the West Bromwich Albion teenager Chris Wood retained his starting spot in an unchanged line-up with New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert not willing to risk injury ahead of their World Cup opener against Slovakia in less than a fortnight's time.

Herbert says the last thing he wants is injuries so they're being very careful with the group.

Despite the unchanged line-up against Slovenia, Herbert says he has yet to write names on the start list for the June 15th World Cup opener against Slovakia.
