Triple Olympic medalist Barbara Kendall has announced her retirement from boardsailing.
42-year-old Kendall won gold Barcelona in 1992, silver in Atlanta in 1996 and bronze in Sydney in 2000. She finished fifth in Athens in 2004 and sixth in Beijing in 2008. She also won the world title three times.
Kendall says her family was a part of her decision to retire after 24 years sailing. She now has two daughters.
She sits on the IOC's Athletes Commission and also holds two positions with the Oceania Olympic Committee as an Executive Board member, and the President of their Athletes Commission.
