Olympic gold medallist Joseph Sullivan has been dropped from the New Zealand rowing squad.
Sullivan, who won gold in the men's double sculls at the London Olympics with the now-retired Nathan Cohen, was not named in the 24-strong team announced on Thursday.
Rowing New Zealand's high performance manager Alan Cotter says the 26-year-old's form has not been up to standard and younger rowers have been given the chance to prove themselves in the double and quadruple sculls.
Mahe Drysdale headlines the team in the single sculls, while Hamish Bond and Eric Murray are aiming for another unbeaten season in the men's pair.
Emma Twigg was selected in the women's single scull for the seventh year straight. While Rebecca Scown is joined by Louise Trappitt for the first time in the pair.
