Warriors to play 7 games at Mt Smart, 3 at Eden Park, 1 in Hamilton

7:51 am on 5 December 2013

The New Zealand Warriors will play their first three National Rugby League home matches at Eden Park, in what could be a permanent move in seasons to come.

The gradual move to Eden Park has the Warriors playing just seven of their 12 home games at their traditional Mt Smart Stadium venue next season, with three matches taking place at the central Auckland home of rugby.

As well as kicking off their home season on Sunday March 9th at Eden Park, against St George Illawarra, the Warriors also play the Bulldogs and the Raiders there, with home matches also at Westpac Stadium against Wests Tigers and a supposed away fixture against the Bulldogs at Waikato Stadium.

The first Mt Smart Stadium home game for the Warriors isn't until round 12, when they host the Newcastle Knights.

The Warriors kick off their NRL season playing the Paramatta Eels in Sydney.

The NRL has handed league back to the fans with Saturday and Sunday afternoon games making a major comeback as part of next year's draw.

Other features include two games at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
