Cavendish looks for another stage win

6:46 pm on 16 July 2009

British rider Mark Cavendish will have a last chance before the gruelling mountain stages to snatch a fifth stage win on the Tour de France when the 12th stage gets underway tonight.

Should he win another bunch sprint, he'll become the most successful British rider on the Tour after equalling Barry Hoban's record of eight stage victories on stage eleven.

A massive sprint, however, is not a foregone conclusion at the end of the 211.5-km twelfth stage, which features no less than six minor climbs.

Italy's Rinaldo Nocentini is set to retain the overall leader's yellow jersey while Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong, second and third overall respectively, should spend a quiet day in the peloton.
