No special measures for Ryder

Otago Cricket says it won't be putting any special measures in place for the talented but troubled batsman Jesse Ryder, who's moving from Wellington.

After 10 years with Wellington, Ryder is moving to Dunedin where he will join up with former Wellington coach Vaughan Johnson.

Johnson says the deal has only been struck in the past week but understands after a decade with Wellington, Ryder may feel stale.

The coach says there will be no special rules in place for Ryder and he will simply be expected to fit in with the team environment just like any other new player to the province.

Johnson says Ryder won't be eligible to play for Otago in September's Twenty20 Champions League tournament in India.
