The former England cricketer Chris Lewis has been hailed for 13 years trying to smuggle drugs into Britain in his kit bag.

The 41-year-old former all-rounder had attempted to bring in cocaine with a street value of more than 360-thousand dollars after a holiday in St Lucia.

The drugs had been hidden in liquid form in tins of fruit and vegetable juice stashed in his kit.

Lewis's 27 year old accomplice was also sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Both had denied the charges.
