Parininihi ki Waitotara Corporation chair Hinerangi Raumati says the organisation does not intend to change its direction in the short term and will continue to lease out most of the land it owns.
PKW recently announced a record profit of more than $11.5 million. It is the largest dairy farmer in Taranaki.
Ms Raumati, who is the first woman appointed to chair the incorporation, says the profit indicates the organisation is on the right course.
She says the board went through a comprehensive planning process last year, endorsed by the 8500 Maori owners.
of the 20 thousand hectares of land the incorporation owns, Mrs Raumati says PKW farms about 2000 hectares itself, with the balance in perpetual leases, mainly to other dairy farmers.
She says the incorporation does have a long-term plan to buy back some leases, but that's depends having the money to do that.
Rents are reviewed every seven years and Mrs Raumati says PKW has a good working relationship with the association representing lease-holders.
