Wheat now safe

7:11 am on 7 September 2010

Thousands of tonnes of milling wheat that was at risk after the earthquake damaged silos in North Canterbury, have been saved.

Forty silos in the region fell over or burst in the magnitude 7.1 earthquake at 4.35am on Saturday.

Federated Farmers says grain vacuums and a fleet of trucks have been use to shift the wheat.
