Wool prices not dented by rising dollar

2:56 pm on 7 August 2010

Rises in the New Zealand dollar failed to dent prices at this week's combined North and South Island wool sale.

Wool Services International reports that prices generally held or improved slightly, despite the stronger exchange rate.

Mid micron fleece fetched between 1% - 3% more and finer crossbred wools were between 1% - 2.5% dearer.

Prices for coarse fleece held, and coarse shears were up to 1% dearer.

Oddments also fetched up to 3% more.

More than 80% of the 9000 bales on offer sold.
