Greens draw up list of issues for deal

The Green Party says it is still working on a list of issues where it believes it can find common ground with the National Party.

Greens co-leader Metiria Turei delivered a speech at the weekend saying the party wants to be a constructive influence, not just shout from the sidelines.

After the 2008 election, the Greens entered a formal arrangement with National to work together on energy efficient homes and a regulatory system for natural health products.

Ms Turei says they will be looking to expand on those initiatives, and explore new areas of possible co-operation.

The party campaigned on job creation, cleaning up rivers and lifting children out of poverty, and Ms Turei said it would like to find common ground with National to progress those areas, which remain at the top of its political agenda.

The two parties will meet for further talks in a few weeks time.
