Deputy Prime Minister Bill English is warning National Party members against complacency in the lead-up to this year's election.

He was speaking at a National Party regional conference in Auckland on Sunday morning.
Mr English said National would have to get a higher vote than it did in the last election to win again.
While the Opposition was disorganised and divided and had very little policy, Mr English said it could still win under MMP and the party needed to remember that every single day.
He also told party members not to ignore traditional Labour strongholds like south Auckland in the push to win votes.
Earlier, Mr English stressed the importance of education and employment for young people whom he described as off-track. Helping them, he said, will lead to fewer people relying on the Government.
Mr English also discussed the importance of providing education for prisoners.
Prime Minister John Key is due to address the convention next.
