Extra police called to work on mine investigation

11:57 am on 3 December 2010

Police officers from outside Greymouth have been called to the West Coast to help with the police investigation into the Pike River coal mine explosion.

It is two weeks since the first explosion in the mine, where 29 workers were killed.

Police have been interviewing miners, Pike River employees and other people involved with the mine.

The scale of the operations means extra officers are needed to help with the workload.
