The verdict was handed down this afternoon after a trial in January.

Ratu Isoa was charged by the commission against corruption in 2015 for failing to declare his liabilities before the 2014 election.

It was alleged he didn't declare debts to the government during his time as Fiji's High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea.

But the Fiji Times reports that this afternoon magistrate Makereta Mua said the prosecution had not proved its case, acquitting Ratu Isoa.
