Australia has announced it will provide an additional US$1.8m to assist Solomon Islands recover from April's devastating flash floods in Guadalcanal.
The disaster claimed 23 lives, displaced thousands and inflicted widespread damage to local infrastructure, including critical bridges and roads.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brett Mason, says this donation will help the country recover from the economic impact of the floods by helping to restore commercial activity in Honiara.
It will contribute to the repair of flood-damaged roads and bridges across Guadalcanal province.
