Security guard death could be treated as homicide

Police in west Auckland have been interviewing people after a security guard was found dead, and will decide soon whether they need to start a homicide inquiry.

The bloodied body of Charanpreet Dhaliwal, 21, was found by colleagues at a construction site in the suburb of Henderson early on Friday.

Investigators say it is too early to tell what led to his death and it is possible he was killed in a workplace accident.

Detective Sergeant Eugene Pickett has confirmed that blood was found in the area.

He says a decision will be made by Tuesday on whether to treat Mr Dhaliwal's death as a homicide.

CNE Security say it won't comment until after the investigation is completed.
