A man has died following a collision between a van and a four-wheel-drive in Waikato.
The crash happened on State Highway 1 about 1km from Putaruru at 5.40pm on Wednesday.
The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.
Emergency services cut another man from the second vehicle and he has been flown to hospital. His condition is not known.
The road is expected to be closed for some time on Wednesday night and diversions are in place.
