Senior police officer confirmed as speeding

Police have confirmed a senior officer has been charged with speeding - but say it has to be remembered policing is not a normal job.

Superintendent Ted Cox did not have the siren on in an unmarked car while pursuing a vehicle on the southern motorway in Auckland on Sunday afternoon. He was clocked at speeds of 120km per hour.

Superintendent Paula Rose told Summer Report that if there is a lawful defence available for the superintendent, then he will pursue that avenue.
