Guests at the Intercontinental Hotel in Wellington had early wake-up calls on Wednesday morning, when an ammonia leak forced an evacuation of the building.
The Fire Service says it was called at about 1am to investigate: the leak came from a fridge on level six.
Nobody was hospitalised, but it was two hours before guests were allowed back inside.
