2023 New Zealand Podcast Awards: RNZ wins Best Publisher third year in a row

RNZ has had a stellar year at the 2023 New Zealand Podcast Awards; winning Best Publisher for the third year in a row, and taking home 20 awards overall.

The New Zealand Podcast Awards, now in their third year, showcase the 'nation's diverse and dynamic podcasting landscape.'

'Black Sheep', an episodic podcast presented by William Ray - which details New Zealand's villainous history, was a stand-out for RNZ. The podcast won Gold in the Podcast of the Year, Best Factual Podcast and Best History Podcast categories.

The Climate Award went to 'Our Changing World', and 'The Detail' won Gold for the Best Spotlight Award - a category reserved for podcasts with over 20,000 downloads per episode.

'Did Titanic Sink?' won Gold for Best Comedy and Bronze for Podcast of the Year.

'ICYMI' - RNZ's news podcast for children - won the Best Education Podcast Award.

'The TAHI' - RNZ's youth focused podcast that launched in April this year, had impressive results in several categories. Hosted by So'omālō Iteni Schwalger and Evie Orpe; The TAHI won Gold for the Best Māori or Pasifika Podcast or Host Award category as well as Bronze for Best New Podcast. Host Evie Orpe was also recognised for her work; winning Gold in the Best Rising Star category.

RNZ swept the Factual category, with 'Our Changing World' winning Silver and 'Voices' - Kadambari Raghukumar's attentive explorations into multi-cultural Aotearoa - winning Bronze. 'Voices' also took home Bronze for Best Creativity and Bronze for Best Arts & Culture Podcast.

'The Art of Entertaining' won Bronze for Best Entertainment, the popular 'Aotearoa History Show' won Bronze for Best History, 'The Reading' won Silver for Best Fiction, and Justine Murray's 'Nau Mai Town' won Silver for Best Māori or Pasifika Podcast or Host.
