A police officer has been hospitalised after being struck by a fleeing vehicle in Havelock North last night.

Police say the incident happened at 8.40pm when the driver of a stolen vehicle failed to stop at a checkpoint.
The driver was arrested when their vehicle was spiked shortly after.
The officer is in a moderate condition with leg injuries, and a police investigation is underway.
