A former Armourguard Security employee has been jailed for three and a half years for stealing $170,000 from the Blenheim depot he formerly managed.
Stanley William Tunicliffe, 47, admitted the burglary and was sentenced on Friday in Blenheim District Court.
In January, Tunicliffe cut a hole in the wall of the Armourguard depot.
He put money into a briefcase which he later buried several kilometres away.
Only $137,000 was recovered.
Tunicliffe was ordered to pay $2,000 in reparations.
