The Queenstown Lakes District Council says it has implemented a number of recommendations from a review into a major fire in the area.
More than 700 hectares of land were ravaged in the Wye Creek fire, south of Queenstown, last March.
The review was carried out by the National Rural Fire Authority.
The council's principal rural fire officer Gordon Bailey says he's confident the areas fire readiness is now in excellent shape.
He says some of the review's recommendations have yet to be implemented.
