A serious crash has closed a section of State Highway 2 between Opotiki and Gisborne.
Emergency services were called to a truck crash on Waioeka Gorge, two kilometres south of Tauranga Bridge, about midnight.
The truck rolled and caught fire, police said.
They said the driver has a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital.
Waiokea Gorge is closed and motorists are ask to use State Highway 35.
