Early morning house fire suspicious - police

Police are appealing for sightings of a man who lived in a house that caught fire early this morning.

Fire and Emergency said crews were alerted to the blaze on Tilford Street at 4AM this morning. It is being treated as suspicious.

They say no one was trapped or injured, and fire investigators are trying to determine how it started.

The occupant, Michael Croucher, was last seen at the property at 5pm last night.

No evidence has been found to suggest he was caught up or injured in the blaze.

Police said his family were concerned for his welfare and wanted to know that he was safe.

Mr Croucher is an avid cyclist.
